A week of learning

Listening to Acton Hero: Ken Zolot was a great experience for me as he spoke of his relentlessness, and devilish curiosity as a child. My childhood has not always been remembered as the great knowledge I learned, but more of the challenges I took, fights I decided to pick, and sports that I played. Relating to Ken in this way also caused me to have great interest in what he spoke of next. "Question that a successful Entrepreneur would be, Who cares and why? Who are these people(customers) and what is going on inside their lives. What is keeping them up at night?" These questions helped us show more empathy and genuineness in the lives of those we serve. After reading about 'The Formula', taught in the Ministry of Business book I took action this week in waking up earlier. On Thursday morning I woke up at 7:00 AM went on a run, it was a great opportunity to show my willingness to work hard and apply what I had learned this week. Lastly, my spirit was reminded and understanding expanded as sister Sheri L. Dew spoke on integrity. It was so great to hear her, a woman of high political rank and respect in the worlds eyes, speak powerfully about this principle. I hope my integrity will never leave me, for it is all I really am worth in the end.

What I've learned and experienced so far this week: This week my mind has been surprisingly calm and content. What makes this ironic is because my dad and sister have been down in Rexburg to visit me. So instead of doing the usual homework school grind, we have been partying! It was wonderful to see my sister Allison especially :) This week hasn't been all just movies, car searching, and junk food (although that was a lot of what went on). I've had a lot of time to think during these hours together and the principle of decisiveness and making choices has been on my mind. Surrounded by knowledge and opportunity

I'm not one who looks forward to blogging, but I just have to share what has just gone on right now. Now towards the end of a long day I've found myself on the floor, surrounded by volumes of books and knowledge. I'm filled with gratitude and certain curiosity of what the future could hold. I share this because in life sometimes we can find ourselves 'on the floor'. Maybe feeling like we just can't get up and we should just pack it in and call it a day. My message is to look around! There is opportunities surrounding us every day, we just have to have the courage to pick something up and try it. I have spent the last 15 minuets learning about the joy's of Real Estate investing! I have always been curious in this and many other things too, not sure if i'll pursue it, but was willing to do some research. I am beginning to realize more and more that answers to our biggest concerns won't just come all at once, but 'here a little, and there a little.&

I've greatly enjoyed the Stars and Stepping stones book. Starting from age 70-50, then 50-30, then 30 to today has brought great perspective on my life. It's helped set broad goals, along with glimpses of a vision in which I hope to accomplish. As Jeffry A. Thompson spoke about our callings in life he spoke of how important this idea is and throughout his time at BYU he's asked this question to hundreds of students. What is your calling in life? I have to admit, I usually get quite anxious when i'm asked this question. It is huge, and quite frankly I have some ideas, but am not one-hundred percent confident on any of them. He challenged us to remember heavenly father as the Shepard in our lives. By realizing that he will watch over us and guide us to our true calling in life has helped take away some of my anxiety!
